Benefits of Green Coffee Bean Extract
For a long time people have been familiar with the benefits of drinking green tea, but now recent studies have shown that green coffee beans have stronger antioxidant values than both grape seed extract and green tea, whether taken as a supplement or as green coffee extract.
The active ingredient in green coffee is a compound known as chlorogenic acid (CGA) which neutralizes free radicals in the body. It also neutralizes problems of hydroxyl radicals which if left to go unchecked, lead to cell degeneration.
Another benefit of chlorogenic acid is that it helps regulate a person’s metabolism and it has proven to be twice as effective as either green tea or grape seed extract at absorbing oxygen free radicals.
It is thought the chlorogenic acid contained in green coffee beans actually boosts metabolism and it achieves this by changing the way glucose is absorbed into the body. It does contain caffeic acids which is another advantage because this compound helps boost energy levels.
However, unlike roasted coffee, green beans do not contain cafestol. Cafestrol is a diterpene which together with kahweol increases the bad cholesterol level known as LDL in a person’s body and this over a period of time may increase the risk of coronary heart disease by up to 20 percent.
Some of the other benefits of green bean extract are that people may find taking this supplement increases the effectiveness of any pain killers and analgesics they may be taking, and this is especially true of migraine medication. It also helps the body burn off a higher proportion of lipids (fats) as opposed to carbohydrates. This has been clinically proven to assist with muscle fatigue that bodybuilders and many athletes often suffer from after hard exercise. Green coffee beans taken as a supplement has also been seen to reduce the risk of diabetes which is a huge benefit to people who are at risk or suffer from the condition.
Green coffee weight loss supplements are proving to be extremely effective and current studies show no apparent negative side effects. In fact quite the opposite is proving to be the case, because the naturally occurring CGA has been seen to inhibit the release of sugar (glucose) into the bloodstream. This is just as true after a person has eaten a large meal.
The result is better blood glucose levels as well as healthier blood pressure. All in all green coffee beans are proving to be a very welcome addition to many people’s diets.
